What we do
Astrid captures every client conversation on a matter, writes the file note in your firm's format, files it to the case, sends the client a written recap, and drafts your billable time entries for you to approve.
Plaintiff firms run on phone calls. Intake, treatment updates, witness interviews, status check-ins, settlement conversations: most of a case's real substance happens on a call, not in a document. Astrid captures those calls, drafts the note in the firm's own format, files it to the right matter in the firm's case management system, and sends the client a written recap, so that record exists whether or not anyone had time to write it up by hand.
Who we are
Astrid is built by Astrid Labs, Inc., a small team based in Alexandria, Virginia. We work directly with plaintiff firms to build the product, which means most of what ships here comes from a specific firm hitting a specific problem, not a feature list written in the abstract.

Where the name comes from
Astrid started with a Halloween. Our founder's two daughters picked witch costumes that year, hats and capes and a plastic cauldron, and then wore them well past October. The logo came from that photo: one small witch, winking, under a hat a size too big for her.
The cauldron turned out to fit the product better than we expected. An hour of unstructured talk goes in. What comes out is a note in the firm's own format, filed to the right matter, with the follow-ups pulled out and a written recap ready for the client. None of it is actually mysterious, and we would rather it stayed that way: Security covers where recordings and transcripts live and who can reach them.
We kept the name because it describes the job we want the product to do. Astrid should be the one in the room who was paying attention and wrote everything down. It is not there to replace anyone's judgment, which is why every note it drafts waits for an attorney to read and approve it before it goes anywhere.
How we work
We'd rather ship something narrow that works than something broad that mostly works. Our Security and Recording and Consent pages are both written in that spirit: what we actually do today, and where we're honest that we haven't built or earned something yet. The Changelog is the same idea applied to the product itself, a plain, dated log of what actually shipped.
