A Google Meet call disappears the moment it ends unless someone was taking notes the whole time. Astrid keeps a record of it without adding a step to the meeting itself.
Joins automatically, or on request
Toggle a synced calendar event to send a notetaker automatically, or add a meeting and dispatch one manually. Either way it joins under its own name and announces itself before recording.
No bot authorization needed
Unlike a Zoom call, joining a Google Meet needs no separate authorization for the notetaker itself. Each attorney still connects their own Google Calendar, the normal one-time calendar sync, so their meetings are covered.
Same pipeline as every other call
Once the meeting ends, the recording goes through the same transcription, note drafting, matter matching, and attorney approval as a phone call or an upload.
Turn it on once, from Settings
An attorney connects a Google Calendar from Settings, or adds an upcoming meeting directly. From there, every meeting with the notetaker enabled moves through the same steps:
- A calendar event with a Meet link, or a manually added meeting
- Astrid's notetaker joins at the meeting time and announces itself
- The call is transcribed, speakers separated, once it ends
- A licensed attorney reviews and approves the note before it goes anywhere
Before you turn on the notetaker
Does Astrid need to be added as a Google Workspace app?
No. Astrid's notetaker joins a Google Meet call the same way a guest would, using the meeting link. No Google Workspace admin approval or app install is needed for it to join.
Does an attorney have to authorize this ahead of time, like with Zoom?
Not for the notetaker itself. Zoom requires a one-time per-attorney authorization so Astrid's notetaker can join past a waiting room; Google Meet has no equivalent step. Each attorney still connects their own Google Calendar, the same one-time calendar sync any of this needs, so their meetings are picked up automatically.
How does the notetaker actually get invited to a meeting?
Either automatically, if the meeting comes from a synced Google Calendar event with a Meet link, or manually, by adding the meeting or pasting the link into Astrid directly. Either way, the same toggle controls whether a notetaker gets sent.
Does the notetaker announce itself when it joins?
Yes. It joins under a visible name ("Astrid Notetaker") and plays your firm's disclosure clip on entry, the same recording-notice audio used on a phone bridge call.
Does an attorney have to approve the note before anything is sent?
Yes, always. A draft note or recap doesn't become part of the record, and nothing goes to the client, until a licensed attorney reviews and approves it.
