Astrid Legal vs LegalMate
Competitor details last checked
LegalMate is built for firms on Clio. It reads recordings from the firm's own phone system and logs each call to Clio as a note and a time entry, and its site says hourly-billing firms benefit most. Astrid works with several case management systems, drafts the note in your firm's format, holds it for attorney approval and drafts a recap for the client. If you are a Clio firm that bills hourly and wants calls logged with no new app, LegalMate is built for that. If you need an approved record, a client recap, or a system other than Clio, look at Astrid.

| What is synced to the case management system | Matters are searched live by client name or phone, and the client's contact details are read in. After an attorney approves the note, the note and each follow-up task are filed to the matter, as a Clio phone log, a Smokeball memo, a CasePeer case note, a MyCase note or a Lawcus interaction. A recap the firm sends is filed to the matter too. Task filing to MyCase is not live yet, and filing time entries to Clio and Smokeball is rolling out to select firms. | Clio only. Calls marked privileged are left out for anyone without access. It is available on laptop and tablet screens, not on a phone. | Ask LegalMate answers questions across a firm's calls and emails, such as catching up on a client. A vendor blog describes the chat as in preview. |
