The best AI notetakers that integrate with Clio (2026)
Summary: "Integrates with Clio" covers very different things: a transcript file, a call log, a time entry, or an approved note with tasks. Pick by what you need to appear in the matter. For phone-heavy firms, VXT, LegalMate and Call Connector log calls into Clio's Communications. For billable time, Astrid, Querious, VXT and PointOne draft time entries. For a note an attorney has approved, plus follow-up tasks, from phone calls, video meetings and in-person recordings, Astrid files to Clio Manage. Most general notetakers, including Otter, Fireflies, Fathom and Circleback, have no Clio integration.
We make Astrid, so weigh our row accordingly. Every statement about another product comes from that vendor's own help center, documentation, pricing page or Clio App Directory listing, read on October 6, 2026, and says which when the sources disagree. Features and prices change; confirm with the vendor before you buy.
What "integrates with Clio" can mean
- A transcript or document. A transcript or audio file lands in the matter's documents.
- A communication log. The call or meeting appears in the matter's Communications, with a summary, notes or transcript.
- A time entry. An Activity with a duration and a billing narrative.
- A reviewed note, plus tasks. The note a person approved lands on the matter, and follow-ups become Clio tasks.
Two questions apply to every one of them. How does the tool pick the matter: automatically, by suggestion, or by a picker you fill in every time? And does a person review what is filed before it reaches the record?
The comparison
| Tool | What lands in Clio | How the matter is chosen | Review before it files | What it captures |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Astrid | Attorney-approved note in the matter's Communications; follow-up items as tasks; for hourly matters, a drafted time entry the attorney reviews, approves and syncs to Clio as an Activity | Matched by phone number and contact; ambiguous calls wait for one-click confirmation | Yes, an attorney must approve the note | Zoom Phone, dial-in bridge for any cell or landline, Zoom/Meet/Teams bot, browser and phone recording, uploads |
| VXT | Call or meeting as a Communication with notes, summary and, by default, a time entry; transcript saving is an admin setting | Picked in the post-call dialog, with suggested matters | Yes, edit and save | VXT's own phone system, plus VXT Meet for virtual and in-person meetings |
| Querious | Per its documentation, a time entry with a billing narrative; its marketing says notes are saved too | Picker limited to matters where you are the Responsible Attorney | Yes, held in an Export tab until you sync | Bot in Zoom, Teams and Meet; phone and in-person claimed "on demand" in its support FAQ, with no setup steps in its documentation |
| LegalMate | Transcript, summary, notes, a link to the call and a time entry | Automatic, using the contact's latest open matter | Not described on its pages | Dialpad, RingCentral, Quo and Zoom Phone calls; no bot, no in-person |
| Call Connector | A Communication per call (recording link; transcript and AI summary on the paid plan) plus an Activity with a templated description; texts as Communications, faxes as Documents | Automatic, but only when the contact has exactly one matter; otherwise the call is not linked | None described; logs in real time | Phone systems such as RingCentral and Dialpad; Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex and GoTo through a $9 per user add-on |
| Sonix | Transcripts and audio into the matter, by its Clio listing | Not documented | Not documented | Uploads, live transcription, dictation |
| Rev | Nothing: the integration imports files from Clio into Rev | Not applicable | Not applicable | Bot in Zoom, Meet, Teams and Webex; uploads |
| PointOne | Time entries with narratives, not call notes | Matches captured work to your Clio matters | Yes, review and accept | Email, calendar, Zoom and Teams activity, dictation |
| Clio Manage AI | Notes, tasks and time entries from text you type or paste | You name the matter | Yes, review then save | No transcription feature found in Clio's help center |

Notes on each
Astrid. After a call, Astrid matches it to a matter, drafts a note in your firm's format, and waits for an attorney to approve it. The approved note files to the matter's Communications in Clio Manage as a phone communication, and the follow-up items file as Clio tasks assigned the way a person would assign them. For hourly matters Astrid also drafts a time entry with a client-readable narrative from the call transcript, which an attorney reviews and approves on a Time page and then syncs to Clio as an Activity. That applies to matters that bill hourly, which a firm sets through its practice area or the matter's billing model. It works with Clio Manage, not Clio Grow. It is $40 per person per month billed monthly, or $400 per year billed annually, with a 14-day free trial, and it is listed in the Clio App Directory. A practice area chosen at signup sets the call types and the drafting context, and the note template starts from the firm's default and is yours to edit. See how the Clio connection works.
VXT. VXT began as a legal phone system and added VXT Meet in 2026 for virtual and in-person meetings. Its support documentation says calls and texts appear in Clio's Communications tab with transcripts, notes and summaries, and its changelog says time entries are logged by default for Clio. As of May 2026 transcripts are no longer saved to integrations by default, and an administrator can change that. We found no documentation of tasks reaching Clio. VXT lists $60 per user per month billed monthly or $45 billed annually, with phone numbers extra.
Querious. Querious's documentation lists a time entry (duration, a billing narrative and the meeting title and date) as what syncs, and you pick the matter in an Export tab that shows only matters where you are the Responsible Attorney. Its marketing and Clio listing say it saves notes to Clio as well, which the documentation does not describe. It is a Clio Certified App by its own announcement. Its essential plan is $49.99 per member per month billed annually, with real-time prompts on a $99.99 plan.
LegalMate. LegalMate works through your existing phone system (Dialpad, RingCentral, Quo, Zoom Phone), logs each call to Clio with a summary and a time entry, and picks the matter automatically from the contact's latest open matter. Its video call support is described as coming soon. Pricing is custom, and it is aimed at firms with several attorneys and high call volume.
Call Connector. Call Connector (from the agency Ion8) connects a phone or video system to Clio and logs what happens. Its help center says each call becomes a Communication in Clio with the recording link and, on the paid Way Better plan, the transcript and an AI summary, plus an Activity with the call's duration and a templated description such as "Call with John Doe (555-1234) | Duration: 5m 30s," non-billable unless you change the default. Texts are logged as Communications and faxes as Documents. It links a call to a matter only when the contact has exactly one matter, and its help center describes no review step before records are created. It is a call logger with summaries, not a notetaker that drafts a file note, and we found no tasks reaching Clio. Pricing on its site is a free logging tier and Way Better at $49 per license per month, with a $9 per user video conferencing add-on for Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex and GoTo. Its Clio help page, last updated about five months ago, lists meeting logging as coming soon, so confirm that meetings reach Clio before you buy. It is listed for both Clio Manage and Clio Grow.
Sonix. Sonix is a transcription service. Its Clio listing says transcripts and audio sync into the right matters, while its own legal page says to send transcripts to Clio in one click, so confirm which it is. It is not a notetaker that drafts notes or tasks.
Rev. Rev's Clio integration, available on its Pro and Unlimited plans, lets you choose Clio files to transcribe in Rev. Its documentation describes no write-back to Clio.
PointOne and the other timekeepers. PointOne captures work from email, calendar and meeting activity and drafts time entries for review. It does not record calls. The same applies to other AI timekeepers in Clio's directory.
Clio's own AI. Clio Manage AI (formerly Clio Duo) creates notes, tasks and time entries from text you give it and analyzes documents you attach to a matter. We found no meeting or call transcription in its help center, and Clio has not announced a native notetaker. Clio's own AI time tracking drafts entries from Outlook, OneDrive and calls made in the Clio mobile app.
Phone systems and services with a Clio sync. Quo and Corvum are phone systems that post calls and summaries to Clio. Smith.ai and Ruby are answering services that sync call logs, including to Clio Grow. They are people-answered or phone-first services, not notetakers.
Tools people ask about that have no Clio integration
We found no native Clio integration for Otter, Fireflies, Fathom, Circleback, Jamie, Granola, CraftNote or Voibe, and all but Circleback were checked against Clio's App Directory and are not listed. Some can be connected through Zapier or a webhook by someone who builds the workflow. See our comparisons with Otter and Circleback.
AI assistants and MCP
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI assistant such as Claude connect to another application through a server that the application provides. Instead of pasting text into a chat window, you connect the assistant once and it can look things up in the application directly.
Among the general notetakers, Circleback publishes an MCP server and Otter's integrations page lists Claude through MCP; see our comparisons with Circleback and Otter. We did not check VXT, Querious, LegalMate, Call Connector, Sonix, Rev or PointOne for an MCP server, so ask each vendor.
Astrid has an MCP server. Connect an assistant that supports MCP, such as Claude, and it can search and read your firm's Astrid record: matters, calls, transcripts, approved notes and action items. It works with the access of the person who connects it, so firm scoping and privileged-call restrictions apply the same way they do in the app. Astrid still files the approved note and follow-up tasks into Clio Manage as described above. The MCP server is a way to ask questions of the record, not a replacement for that filing.
One caution applies to any tool like this: connecting an assistant means the content it reads goes to that assistant's provider. Treat that provider like any vendor that sees client content, and check its training and retention terms first, as the NYC Bar's opinion on AI tools advises.
How to choose
- If most of your conversations are phone calls through a phone system you already use, start with the tools that sit on that system: VXT if you want to move your phones, or LegalMate or Call Connector if you want to keep Dialpad, RingCentral or Zoom Phone.
- If you need billable time drafted from calls, look at what Astrid, Querious, VXT and PointOne send and how you review it. Astrid drafts the entry, with a client-readable narrative, from the call transcript for hourly matters, and an attorney reviews and approves it, then syncs it to Clio. Time entries and notes are different records.
- If you need the attorney-approved note and follow-up tasks on the matter, from phone calls, video meetings and in-person recordings alike, that is what Astrid is built for.
- If you want to ask your own AI assistant about your calls, check whether the vendor has an MCP server and what it can read. Astrid has one that works with matters, calls, transcripts, approved notes and action items.
- If you use Clio Grow for intake, check Grow support specifically. Most notetakers here support Clio Manage only.
What to ask in a demo
- Show me the record in a Clio matter after a call. What is it called, where does it sit, and who is it attributed to?
- How does the tool choose the matter? What happens when a client has two open matters?
- Does it create Clio tasks? Assigned to whom?
- Can someone review and edit it before it reaches Clio, and is the approval recorded?
- Does it work with Clio Grow, or only Clio Manage?
- Is the tool listed in the Clio App Directory, and what exactly does the listing say it does?
- Who can see a recording, and does the vendor train on it?

Frequently asked questions
Which AI notetakers integrate with Clio?
As of October 2026, VXT, Querious, Astrid, LegalMate, Call Connector, Sonix and PointOne have Clio App Directory listings, and Rev has a Clio integration that imports files. They send different things to Clio: call logs, time entries, transcripts, or an approved note with tasks. Otter, Fireflies, Fathom and Circleback have no native Clio integration.
Does Clio have its own AI notetaker?
Not that we could find. Clio Manage AI creates notes, tasks and time entries from text you give it and analyzes documents on a matter, but Clio's help center describes no meeting or call transcription, and Clio has not announced one.
Does Astrid work with Clio Grow?
No. Astrid connects to Clio Manage, where matters, notes and tasks live. Clio Grow is a separate intake and CRM product that Astrid does not integrate with today.
Can an AI notetaker create tasks in Clio?
Astrid files follow-up items as Clio tasks after an attorney approves the note. Among the other tools here, we found no documentation of tasks reaching Clio from VXT, Querious, LegalMate or Call Connector.
What is the difference between a note and a time entry in Clio?
A note or communication is the record of what was said. A time entry (an Activity) records time to bill, with a duration and a narrative. Some tools file one, some the other, and a few file both.
Is Astrid in the Clio App Directory?
Yes, Astrid has a listing for Clio Manage in the United States.
Does Astrid have an MCP server?
Yes. Astrid has an MCP server that lets an assistant supporting MCP, such as Claude, search and read your firm's matters, calls, transcripts, approved notes and action items, with the access of the person who connects it. Check what the assistant's provider does with the content it reads.
